Introducing Andrew Charles!!

Andrew came as scheduled yesterday, June 25th at 6:16pm. He is adorable and BIG! He is just 2oz short of being 9lbs. Ironically, when I checked in for the C-Section, I was actually in labor! But, the nurses and doctor still thought it was best to take Andrew as planned. We are thankful to the Lord not only for our new son, but also for his orchestration of his arrival! Andrew was found to be posterior, very high, and had the cord around his neck. We are thankful for a healthy guy and for the way recovery has gone. Apparently, 18 hours of labor and then a rushed C-Section does take more toll on your body then a scheduled C-Section! :)

Jacob has done pretty well with meeting baby brother. He sang the "my baby" song, tried sharing his snack with the baby, and has even tried giving the baby toys to play with - including a brand-new hot wheels car! When he left to go home from the hospital today, he asked if baby brother was coming with him - and even offered to let baby brother sleep in his race car bed.

Thank you all for your prayers for us. Please be praying for Andrew and some tests the doctors are running. He has some minor heart beat issues and some fast breathing. The nurses think that it is pretty normal, but we're running some blood tests tonight as well as an x-ray in the morning.

Big Brother/Baby Brother update...

"Mommy....I knock baby brother out?" Jacob says as he begins knocking on the "door" of my tummy. Yes, our home has been filled with all sorts of interesting conversation as we have been preparing for the arrival of baby brother. Some days, Jacob is so excited and talks about how baby brother is coming and can't wait to meet Jakey. Other days, Jacob defiantly throws anything that looks like it might be for baby brother and not for him (such as small laundry). It will be interesting to see what he does when baby brother finally arrives.

When will that be? As most of you know, I've been planning to try a VBAC. However, in the last week, it has become pretty apparent that baby brother isn't planning to descend like he should and at this point, we do have a C-Section scheduled. If I go into labor naturally before that, we will still try for the VBAC, but if we don't it looks like baby brother will come to meet us all on Wednesday, June 25th around 5:30pm.

We are very excited to meet this new perfect gift from God to our family....in the meantime, we are trying to get (and stay) ready and enjoy every last minute with Jacob as our only child.

Lord willing, the next time we post, it will start by saying "Introducing...."

Baby Shower...

The ladies from church threw an amazing baby shower for me the second weekend in June. I wanted to post a couple of pictures for you non-Californians....you'll see why...

First, the lady who hosted the shower was absolutely adorable. Look at the cute flower arrangements! All you crafty gals out there will appreciate the creative "vases". I also LOVED the two-toned gerber daisys! I hadn't seen them before and they were GORGEOUS!

Speaking of gorgeous, this is where we had brunch. On her patio. Yes, this is her view from her patio!!
As I was opening a multitude of gifts, this is what I got to watch - a sailboat race! I have to admit, baby showers are always fun...but babyshowers on the BEACH are amazing!! Thanks FBC ladies - we are so spoiled!!

Santa Barbara...

At the beginning of June, we decided to take a short trip to Santa Barbara. Neither of us had seen the area before and we both wanted to get a couple of days away from our home to focus on Jakey and make some last minute "Three Amigos" memories.

We stayed at a hotel in Oxnard - which was right on the beach! Too bad it was too cold to go into the ocean! But the boys enjoyed some good swim time in the pool. They also had bike rentals, so we rented a surry and biked around for a couple of hours. Jacob loved his special seat in the front!

We packed a lunch on the surry and found a little park to eat at. This also gave the boys some much needed run-around time. I happily sat on a bench and enjoyed watching my two favorite boys play!
The highlight for Jacob was going to Ventura and finding a mini-golf course. This was Jacob's first experience with mini-golfing and he has NOT STOPPED talking about it since! His ball, he tells us regularly, was the green one.

One afternoon, we headed to the warf at Santa Barbara. We had a great seafood lunch, watched a man fish and pull up rays (he pulled TWO over 100 lbs that day!), and then hit the Sea Center. Jacob wasn't too into touching things, but he did like the puppet show area!
Here is a picture of Daddy playing with Jacob and the puppets. There is little better than watching Daddy's play with their kids. I am TRULY blessed to have such FUN boys in my life!

Oreos...

I am pretty sure that Jacob has tried Oreos at Grandma's house already, but we tried them for the first time at our house today. With milk. (Side note: I usually HATE Oreos....really. I can pass them up without any hesitation. However, with BOTH pregnancies I have had a craving for them. With Jacob, the craving came fairly early on. With this baby, it came yesterday - hence the Oreos at our house today.) Here are a few pics of Jacob's new love...

At one point, Jacob dropped the cookie into the milk. He then informed us that it was "swimming" - pretty cute!
